Darwin Salutes You

I watched as the fellow at the top of the ladder used a shovel to remove the metal siding from the house. He would pry, then pull, then awkwardly juggle the shovel and the large piece of loose siding, and then finally drop the siding below to the left of the ladder and almost on top of the fellow at the bottom of the ladder.

I cringed and wondered if I should say something Hey, guys, someone is going to get seriously hurt. But I knew I would have no influence, so I watched silently pondering what to do while I took pictures.

Then, to my relief, along came a city inspector in shining aviator glasses riding in a white car to rescue them from certain inclusion into the Darwin Awards.

Nice to see you blogging again Woodsy. I missed you. (By the way, I still have that book for you...I meant to bring it with me the last time I saw you but I forgot. Next time you're in my hood or I'm in yours, we should connect.)

Hah! When you said "Darwin Salutes You," I thought it was a reference to Eric Darwin's post on the same house which is just above yours in the Blogawa feed (meaning yours came first).

Also, that inspector reminds me of a guy I knew. Kinda looked like a young Jim Belushi. Likely not the same person.

I see that building all the time. I didn't know we lived so close-by.

Zoom, you rock my socks!

RealGrouchy, I was so amused when I saw that too. Funny coincidence, non?

Milan, you'd be surprised how close we live, wink, wink.

Laziness motivates people to take all sorts of dangerous short-cuts in order to save themselves a little effort.

LOL. "Stupid is as stupid does"

Some contractors can be pretty freakin' hilarious sometimes.

I have it on good authority that the landlord of the place next door intends to buy the corner building, demolish the two, and put up condos.

My friend lived in the building until shortly after the siding was taken down. The building got condemned really quickly. Too funny

Jackson, that does not surprise me... thanks for sharing.

Arden, I wonder if they knew that would get it condemed? Not nice... I hope your friend found lodging somewhere.
